Explore Your Backyard: Secure Free Military Admission at Parks Canada.
As of January 1, 2024, Parks Canada provides permanent free daily admission to active members and Veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces, as well as their immediate families. This initiative covers over 171 national historic sites, 47 national parks, and 5 national marine conservation areas across the country.
By removing admission fees, the Government of Canada aims to support the health and wellness of the military community, providing open access to the therapeutic benefits of nature and our shared cultural heritage.
To access any Parks Canada-administered location at no cost, simply present one of the following pieces of identification at the entry gate or visitor centre:
CF One Platinum Card: This card is administered through the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) and is the primary identification for active members and their families.
Veteran’s Service Card: Available to any former member of the Canadian Armed Forces who completed basic training and was honourably released.
Note for Families: Immediate family members can gain admission by presenting their own CF One Platinum card, even if the primary CAF member or Veteran is not present.
"Travel mid-week for lower ticket prices."
The Canada Strong Pass is a major government initiative returning for the summer of 2026. This is not a physical card you need to carry; rather, it is a service-level discount applied automatically during two key periods: December 12, 2025, to January 15, 2026, and June 19 to September 7, 2026.
During these dates, daily admission is free for all visitors at every national park, historic site, and marine conservation area managed by Parks Canada. Additionally, all visitors receive a 25% discount on camping and roofed accommodations (such as oTENTiks and Yurts) during these windows.
If you plan to visit multiple Parks Canada locations outside of the free "Canada Strong Pass" windows, the Discovery Pass remains the most cost-effective option. For a flat fee (approximately $151.25 for a family/group of up to seven people), you receive unlimited entry to over 80 locations for a full 12 months.
