How To Claim the TTC Senior Discount
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) provides public transportation across Toronto through its subway, bus, and streetcar network. Seniors aged 65 and older can access a discounted TTC fare by setting the Senior fare type on a PRESTO card and using it when travelling on the TTC.
Seniors can pay $2.25 per trip with a PRESTO card, compared with the $3.30 adult PRESTO fare. To receive the Senior fare, the fare type must be set up in person by providing valid proof of age at an eligible location.
Verification Process
- Be 65 years of age or older.
- Have a new or existing PRESTO card.
- Visit Shoppers Drug Mart or a participating Customer Service Outlet.
- Provide valid proof of age to set up the Senior fare.
Terms and Conditions
- The Senior fare is available to customers aged 65 and older.
- The Senior fare must be set up on an eligible PRESTO card.
- Seniors should carry valid photo identification when travelling.
- Regular debit and credit card payments do not receive the Senior fare.

Other Ways To Save Money at TTC
Monthly Fare Capping
TTC's monthly fare capping is now available to Adult, Youth, Senior, and Fair Pass customers using eligible payment methods. After 47 paid TTC trips in a calendar month, additional TTC trips are free for the rest of that month, and you must use the same payment method and card or device consistently for your trips to count toward the same cap.
Discounted Fare Options
TTC offers discounted fares for eligible customers, including seniors aged 65 and older, youth, post-secondary students, and customers who qualify for the Fair Pass Transit Discount Program. Eligible riders can set up the applicable fare type on a PRESTO card, while Senior fares paid with PRESTO also count toward the monthly fare cap.
