The GO Transit Student Savings program offers full-time post-secondary students and youth (ages 13–19) a 40% discount off the standard adult fare when using a PRESTO card. This makes commuting to major Ontario campuses like U of T, Waterloo, McMaster, and Guelph significantly more affordable.
Claim It
Apply for a GO Transit Student ID online at gotransit.com using your school credentials. Retrieve your digital voucher code from your email once your student status is verified. Visit a PRESTO service counter (at GO Stations or select Shoppers Drug Marts) to set the "Student" or "Youth" fare type on your card. Tap on and off for every trip; the 40% discount is automatically deducted from your balance.

In a single calendar month: Trips 1–30: 40% off. Trips 31–40: 95% off (you pay pennies per ride). Trips 41+: 100% off (you ride for free for the rest of the month).
Ontario’s "One Fare" Program
If you transfer between GO Transit and local agencies (like the TTC, MiWay, or Brampton Transit), your local fare is free. You only pay the GO fare, potentially saving you over $1,600 a year if you commute daily.
